As Joe Put It, "Welcome to the Dark Side."

Today marks a significant checkpoint in my life.

I downloaded my first Kindle book.

Granted, I don't actually own a Kindle (or any other e-reader, for that fact), but I keep seeing these free books promoted on Twitter and I want free books, so I downloaded the Kindle for Mac and "purchased" Sasha: A Trial of Blood and Steel by Joel Shepherd. Will I read it anytime soon? Probably not--I don't like reading off my computer (and being on a computer fo 8+ hours every day at work makes me not want to be on a computer* at home/on break). But for when someone a)buys me a Kindle, or b) Kindles suddenly become very affordable and I get one myself, I shall read this book and see if it was worth the whole $0 I spent on it.

In the meantime, one of you should download it and tell me how good/not good it is. :D

*I still believe that, had computers never been invented, I would still have 20/20 eyesight. Ah well, at least I don't need my AWESOME glasses (see picture, they're legit) when I'm on the computer. Huzzah for near-sightedness.

  1. Woo! Thanks for the heads-up on the free book! Been meaning to read that one. And yeah, I try to avoid reading entire novels on my computer screen as well. XD

Also, Kindles aren't that expensive! Mine's paid for itself many times over with all the free books I've managed to get, especially from Project Gutenberg and often from the lower cost of e-books vs. paperback/hardcover. Though I suppose relative expense-wise, it IS quite expensive if all the books you read are from the library. Hrm.

  2. hahaha. that's funny. I can never read a book on a computer. I've tried. It didn't work. I must have hard copy. Also, all these gadgets are so expensive that by the time I decided to get anything there would be all kinds of new things. So, I just don't get them in the first place and I save money.

  3. Ditto the not wanting to read on the computer. I like some of the stories on Textnovel, but I can't fully commit because they are online. I did, however, buy a Kindle so I have proceeded to download all kinds of free books on there. None of which have been finished, but yay for having them, I suppose...I'll have to check out the one that you mentioned.
