Homestretch for CITY OF TEETH

Check this out.

Are we looking at that? Eh? Eh? 95 PERCENT. I have two chapters left, basically the end battle and the epilogue. Because I rocked 3k today and finished Chapter 39.

I've been writing since I was a teenager and have been married for 1.5 years, but I still get wriggly whenever I write romance scenes. Even if it's a paragraph. I go nuts. Took me 30 minutes to write 20 words of it, I swear.

But it's almost done, and I'm at 81K so far. (Remember my guestimate that it would be 68K? WRONG.)

So excited.

  1. You still aren't comfortable with romance? Charlie, Charlie...

Actually, that reminds me of an exercise in a really basic level fiction class from years ago. We were all supposed to write some sort of sexual/romantic tension scene and the room, which usually had a good deal of background noise (many people were in this class for an easy A) was silent as everybody scribbled madly. Who knows what everybody was actually writing, and most of it probably wasn't publishable, but it sure captured everybody's attention.

  2. I liked your romantic moments in The Day the Sky Fell. Also, can`t wait to read this one!!!

  3. Since when did you become Canadian, Charlie? Congrats on nearly getting another book done. You should send me the ones you've finished, so I can read them.
