Happy Father's Day!

Happy belated Father's Day to all those dashing, spawning men out there!

I celebrate for two father now, and sometime in the future it will be for three (you know, for when I have kids. Hopefully planned kids. Please, God, let me have planned children).

For my dad, Husband and I drove to his house early to make him breakfast and go to church with him. All us sisters (we have four girls in the family, not counting my mom) contributed to a homemade J Dawgs dinner. We also wrote my dad loving letters and chipped in to buy him a nice drill.

For my father-in-law, I scoured the valley for cinnamon barrels, a candy he really likes. I didn't find them, but I did find cinnamon "buttons," suckers, and old-fashioned cinnamon drops at a specialty candy store called Sweet Aftons. We piled those up in a glass and stuck a card with it.

All in all, a busy (but good!) Father's Day. How was yours?

  1. Nice presents! I think finding someone their favorite candy is a great idea.

  2. Start by doing whatever you can to not have unplanned children. Few things are perfect, of course (I heard about a man who reversed his vasectomy after the woman went through menopause, and they wound up getting pregnant again. Oops. Guess she wasn't quite done yet.) Not to scare you or anything--I'm sure you'll be a great mom (and your hubby will be a great dad,) whether your kids come at a time you planned on or otherwise.

We had a huge family BBQ. We were blessed with families that get along, so both sides of the family were over at our house. Hubby finally got his wish of three years running: he, my dad, his dad, and his brother played a round of wii golf after the meal.

  3. That sounds lovely. Unfortunately, I don't live near my pops :( but I still send a present, a jibjab email and made sure to call him. That counts for something, right?? :)

  4. Hahaha, hoping for planned kids myself someday! Glad your weekend went well... Hubs and our "daughter" the dog did some exploring in one of the creeks around here... Little girl is just learning how to swim, and we cheered so much you would have thought she was a human!
