Well, I am officially a substitute teacher. No training, no manuals, just push me out of the nest and hope I fly... it's a little terrifying. Unfortunately, I had to turn down my first offer of work thanks to a lovely cold.
Boo you, Winter.

I had one summer where I substituted high school summer school. It was horrible. Nobody told me what to do, or teach and it was like babysitting and I could feel the contempt dripping off the students.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm sure it will go great for you! :)
Substitute teaching? You're a brave woman.
ReplyDeleteGo in the school with guns blazing, figuratively speaking of course, unless that's allowed...then go for it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! My biggest piece of advice is to start hard and end easy. If you start off trying to be "cool," the kids will totally take advantage of you. If you start off no-nonsense and a little bit scary, you can lighten up by the end of the period--but only if they deserve it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds scary, but you'll get the hang of it. I will be thinking of you!
