The Waiting Game

I'm waiting. Let me tell you this: getting an agent and a book deal does not put an end to writerly waiting. If
anything, you wait for more things from more people. It's all incredibly exciting and very stressful at the same time! And then, as soon as one things concludes, something else is added to the wait list. My heart! Hoping to hear on edits, covers, and other potential story outlets right now. Hopefully I'll have fingernails left by the time they conclude. ;)

And this baby. Waiting for this baby. Two weeks until the due date, but babies come early, sometimes. However, I'm positive this one is coming late, which means more waiting! I'm bouncing on yoga balls and taking walks and using all my willpower to get her to arrive in a timely fashion. I want my baby girl!

I am happy to say that, after much waiting, things with the author website are going smoothly. I'm so excited for the final product I can barely contain myself! I'm working with great people and I have high hopes. Right now we're in the beginning design stages, and I'm trying to figure out what on earth my banner should look like. Branding is hard. Hopefully the finished site will be user-friendly and cover all my bases (because if it doesn't you'll tell me, right?).

What are you waiting for?

  1. Awesome! I'm excited to see what you come up with website wise.

I wish I was in the waiting stages. I'm not. Enjoy this part because once your book is out there, there's ALWAYS something you could (SHOULD) be doing to promote your work instead of writing. But you still have to write! Ugh! It's world of contradictions. =)

  2. Waiting, it's part of the business. Always something to do...and you have a child on the way...a big life change in store to add to the mix. maybe it'll shake up the regular waiting routine.

Me? I'm waiting for more files (audiobook production of my SF novel) to proof. But I'm working on one of my fantasy novel proofs--the narrator is waiting for me to finish, and then my publisher is waiting for me to finish Soul Forge...everybody in the business waits for something.

Hang in there and good luck!

  3. Life is full of waiting, and waiting officially sucks. Still, we all have to do it. And be happy you're just waiting nine months for your baby girl. When we started looking to adopt a child it took us three years to find our first. A couple of weeks isn't long, even though it feels as if it will take forever. Congrats on the baby!

  4. You've got so many wonderful things in play that I can certainly see how the waiting is just so darned, well, makes you want to chew your nails down to their beds, which I've done now that I'm looking at the poor things lol! And more waiting is to come, but when things get rolling, make sure you're strapped in well for the ride :-)

  5. And here I thought for sure you'd had her by now! Maybe eat eggplant parmesean? I've heard that works, lol. I'm waiting on myself to start writing faster so I can finally be done w/revising. I've been revising for over a year now and I'm so ready to be done. Especially since I thought it'd only take a few months. Ha. Ha. Joke's on me!
